This amazing film regards a young man, Victor (Leonardo Sbaraglia), who gets together with his family as his father in Paris, where the family's patriarch Max (Fernando Fernan Gomez) is hospitalized at death's door & in a state of paranoia & senility.

Victor has a loving son's desire to pander to the old man's panicky delusions, because what harm can it do, & it might ease Max's unfortunate state of mind if someone near him stops treating him as delusional.

Max is convinced everyone is out to get him. He believes he has to get a warning to his commrade Rancel not to get on the train, as "they" will be waiting for him. Victor's mother (Geraldine Chaplin) is strangely evasive when Victor questions her about the seemingly imaginary Rancel.

Sneaking his father out of the hospital, son & dying father set out upon a quest to right old betrayals. And the truth that Victor uncovers is one of the most compassionate of tragic romances ever filmed.
