Demolition Man

DEMOLITION MAN. 1993

Director: Marco Brambilla

An arch-psycho murdering criminal (Wesley Snipes) gets out of a cryogenic hibernation unit & discovers he's in the dystopian future of 2032, where personal liberty & violence no longer exist & no one even cusses.

He goes on a rampage, & there's nothing Wuss World can do about it. So they wake up a relic who also ended up in the cyrogenic center, a violent cop (Sylvester Stallone) who caught Snipes the first time.

It may sound like the premise of a really stupid film, but it's excellent-of-kind, & delivers more than expected rather than merely what's expected.

With the testosterone flying in this absurd but entertaining sci-fi actioner, one performance pops out as an antidote to what is otherwise a promotion of mindless mayhem. Sandra Bullock turns in a funny performance as the violent cop's sidekick. She turns in a lighthearted comedic performance so charming & funny that she manages to steal the film from both of its burlesque beefcake stars.
