FEAR FAITH REVENGE 303 (1999)

At a Thai bording school, the students are being picked off by a supernatural power. That's pretty much the whole familiar premise.

It must've been great in Thailand to go see what is in essence is an American or British horror story devoid of Thai elements, but performed in Thai by Thai actors. The architecture, the deciduous woods, the Catholicism, the world apparently devoid of anything Buddhist or ancient or Southeast Asian in character -- everything about this is so not Thai culture.

The novelty of seeing a pretty good American movie done by & for Thai people is probably not quite so interesting in the west, where "teenagers get picked off one by one" films are a dime a dozen & not really improved by being a foreign film with terrible subtitles. It is not a bad film so much as it is an commonplace film.
