Krippendorf's Tribe

KRIPPENDORF'S TRIBE. 1998

Director: Todd Holland

Krippendorf's Tribe stars no one more interesting than crappydork Richard Dreyfuss & scientology-barbie Jenna Elfman, though if Lily Tomlin had had more screen time, it might not have been quite such a waste of time.

Dreyfuss plays a washed-up anthropologist who fakes the discovery of a Neolithic tribe. This thin comedy is not the least bit believable, except that it was inspired by the "Gentle Tasaday" hoax of a stone age tribe found in the Philippines, which the National Geographic bought wholesale.

So despite that these actors & this script are tedioiusly unconvincing, the premise is actually no more absurd than the widely believed story of the Stone Age Tassedy living naked in a cave.
